May Blog Post

Well this event was with Rafael Serrano and it was a solo exhibition. His work was mixed media so it was photography and with paintings.

This event I got to organize the food which I'm very proud of because it looks pretty and classy.

This event was fun and there was actually a random after party and it was fun but sadly I couldn't stay for long and this event was a success.

Senior Project Reflection

(1) Positive Statement
What are you most proud of in your Block Presentation and/or your senior project? Why?

- What I'm most proud of with my block presentation is that I actually made great timing and I was much more comfortable presenting again. I was more prepared than I was with my first presentation and that i made time as well.
(2) Questions to Consider
a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Block Presentation (self-assessment)?
AE       P          AP       CR       NC
b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project (self-assessment)?
AE       P          AP       CR       NC
(3) What worked for you in your senior project?

- What worked for me with senior project was that I get to have a head start in something that would probably do in the future and get to study about it through the year.

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would have you done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?

- I wish that I didn't fail my first presentation and cited my sources better. I wanted to get the P that i wanted but I wasn't prepared.

(5) Finding Value
How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.

- With senior project I have the chance to figure what I want to do with my life or a consideration towards it. With helping my mentor Christina I learned to set portraits, labels, bands or DJS, and how to make the food look pretty in big events. Also giving me the responsibility to actually run on of the websites that SPACE gallery has. Its a head start for me in life and I do appreciate it.

What is the most important thing you gained from this experience? Why?
- What I gained in this experience was actually everything. I learned what art galleries do to curate there events and how they organize and how it connects with music and the audience. I gained a new piece of knowledge that I'm possibly using in the future.

April Blog Post

This month the event was based on local photographers. It wasn't a big event but it still got the right amount of people to come at the end. This was actually a big deal for an intern at SPACE, it was his first event that he ever should his work in. It was a great boost for him because he is a great photographer.

Exit Interview

Content:

(1) What is your essential question and answers?  What is your best answer and why?
- How can a curator best promote a photography installation at an art gallery? My best answer is promote the event on the blogs of photographers who are going to display their work at the gallery.
(2) What process did you take to arrive at this answer?
- The process I took to get my best answer was that every source that I found was related to having social media. I broke it down which social media was used the most between the art gallery and the photographer. They both communicate through blogs and Facebook.
(3) What problems did you face?  How did you resolve them?
- One of the problems I faced was finding the right statistics related to social media. With the help Pittman expanding my answers horizons I found great and solid statistics.
(4) What are the two most significant sources you used to answer your essential question and why?
-Bamberger, Alan. "Artist Websites: How to Increase Your Online Traffic(And Keep Everyone on Your Site Longer)." & Read, Shirley. "Exhibiting Photography. These two sources are probably my best because it explains how to work with photographers and how to promote them step by step.

Blog 19: Independent Component 2

Content:

LITERAL
(a) “I, Viviana Bravo, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.”
(b) Cite your source regarding who or what article or book helped you complete the independent component.
- Well what helped do my independent component was actually taking a class at IPoly. This class was ROP photography.
(d) Explanation of what you completed.
INTERPRETIVE
Defend your work and explain how the significant parts of your component and how it demonstrates 30 hours of work.
- Well from this I learned a lot of different genres of photography. For example Landscape and Pop art, these two are different genres of photography. Landscape photography is calming and talking pictures with warm natural colors. Pop art is mostly portrait photography, it usually has bright crazy colors, pink, green, etc.

APPLIED
How did the component help you answer your EQ? Please include specific examples to illustrate how it helped.
- It help me break down how to find the photographer to put in art gallery depending on the theme. It also helped me expand my idea for my first answer because it involves hiring a popular band. With that you have know what kind of genre the photography is.
