May Blog Post

Well this event was with Rafael Serrano and it was a solo exhibition. His work was mixed media so it was photography and with paintings.

This event I got to organize the food which I'm very proud of because it looks pretty and classy.

This event was fun and there was actually a random after party and it was fun but sadly I couldn't stay for long and this event was a success.

Senior Project Reflection

(1) Positive Statement
What are you most proud of in your Block Presentation and/or your senior project? Why?

- What I'm most proud of with my block presentation is that I actually made great timing and I was much more comfortable presenting again. I was more prepared than I was with my first presentation and that i made time as well.
(2) Questions to Consider
a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Block Presentation (self-assessment)?
AE       P          AP       CR       NC
b.     What assessment would you give yourself on your overall senior project (self-assessment)?
AE       P          AP       CR       NC
(3) What worked for you in your senior project?

- What worked for me with senior project was that I get to have a head start in something that would probably do in the future and get to study about it through the year.

(4) (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would have you done differently to improve your senior project if you could go back in time?

- I wish that I didn't fail my first presentation and cited my sources better. I wanted to get the P that i wanted but I wasn't prepared.

(5) Finding Value
How has the senior project been helpful to you in your future endeavors?   Be specific and use examples.

- With senior project I have the chance to figure what I want to do with my life or a consideration towards it. With helping my mentor Christina I learned to set portraits, labels, bands or DJS, and how to make the food look pretty in big events. Also giving me the responsibility to actually run on of the websites that SPACE gallery has. Its a head start for me in life and I do appreciate it.

February post

This event was cool, the first major event I sadly couldn't go to because it was during winter formal but luckily the week after that there was small event with a live performance by Electrician. It was fun but I couldn't really stay long. I did help out with some of the music equipment and it was cool to meet the lead singer and listening to a different genre

Keeping up to date with putting information on your blog/social media.
3 details to support the answer (a detail is a fact and an example)
Blogging is actually is actually on of the important key of being in the art business. SPACE, where I do my mentorship has there own blog and keep up to date but also with Facebook and other social media websites for people that are interested to go to the event or any other occasion. It also helps you keep in contact with the photographer you're working with, its best way to keep a good connection.
The research source (s) to support your details and answer
Bamberger, Alan. "Artist Websites: How to Increase Your Online Traffic(And Keep Everyone on Your Site Longer)." Artist Websites: How to Increase Your Traffic and Keep Visitors On-Site Longer. Independent Component 1

  • LITERAL
    (a) “I, Viviana Bravo, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.”
    (b) Well actually my source is my teacher Jack from ROP Photography.
  • What I have completed was a my ROP photography class to get the understanding of photography since I'm promoting it in my senior project.
  • INTERPRETIVE
This is actually my first semester grade from the class.

  • APPLIED
Well through my expierence in this class was that understanding the point of view that photographer all demands on what kind of photography they enjoy and see what kind of theme it is. For example black and white, it can add so much emotion and just focusing on one subject like wedding ring or even even a chair. It can have so much meaning. Plus with photography it can help curator do better in advertising as well like your own business card. That was actually one of projects to find the right texture of a picture and having a great business title and logo. It helped think outside the box and I think it help me figure out on of my next answers

January post

This months event was more of a band grudge theme. Nick Zinner and Malia Jones were the photographers and they are both in different bands. Nick Zinner is actually the guitarist for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs which is a great band in my opinion. Malia is in a band called The Dum Dum Girls, I have never heard of them.
The people in this event well the audience were very retro and underground in other words "hipster". My mentor Christina actually did not like Malia because they dissed on Pomona which she had proved them wrong. The pictures that you see are actually from the gallery. The top three are Nick Zinners  and the bottom three are Malias.

Lesson 2 Reflection

1. Positive Statement

What are you most proud of in your Lesson 2 Presentation and why?
- The most thing i'm proud of my presentation is my activity. The class seemed to enjoy it and did I, but next time i'm possibly going to use iPads for it would be easier on them to find the photographers and musicians.

2. Questions to Consider
       a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 2 Presentation (self-assessment)?

       AE       P          AP       CR       NC

       b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 2 component contract.
-Even though the activity was great I still make time on my answer one which i need work on and explain more on the content because i was going all over the place. Lack of evidence as well.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 2?
-What really worked for me was that people just enjoyed my activity and how people actually new some of the photographers.

4.  (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 2?
-MAKE TIME, TRY TO GO INTO MORE DETAIL & FIX MY POWER POINT.

What do you think your answer #2 is going to be?
- Im not really sure yet but i think i'm going to start looking into marketing and things like that.

Blog 11 Mentorship 10 hours check

1.   Where are you doing your mentorship?
- It all depends on what the owner makes me do. For example most of the time through out the week days i just sit at the front desk but on major weekends I help with organizing the food, drinks, and see if we get some donations and have meet new photographers.
2.   Who is your contact?
-Christina Franco-Long she is the owner/director
              -(909)623-1694, spacepomona@gmail.com
3.   How many total hours have you done (total hours should be reflected in your mentorship log located on the right hand side of your blog like your WB)?
- I have 50 hours exactly if you take out the 10 hours from the summer.
4.   Summarize the 10 hours of service you did.
- A lot of things happen for an event you have prepare everything a couple of days before the actual show. You need some way to promote the event and try to get as much people to sell the photographs. Music has to be there if not then it would be awkward and depressing.
5.   Email your house teacher the name of your contact and their phone number confirming who they should call to verify it.

Senior Project, The Holiday

1.  It is important to consistently work on your senior project, whether it is break or we are in school.  What did you over the break with your senior project?
- This break I went to my mentorship like every Tuesday & Wednesday but every time I get there me mentor isn't there or shes leaving because of the holidays so it was hard to get my hours. But this past weekend I went to Laguna Beach with some friends and i saw some galleries. I tried to see how they introduce themselves and how things were set up.
2.  What was the most important thing you learned from what you did and why?  What was the source of what you learned?
- I didn't really learn much over break. Its winter break and I was busy trying to relax and being away from school.
3.  If you were going to do a 10 question interview on questions related to answers of your EQ, who would you talk to and why?
- My mentor and or Rocio the co-curator because they both have the experience and they do this kind business and they also already took the classes in college. They know a good percentage about owning and promoting and art gallery.
